🌻Allotment Club: Our Behaviour Policy

Welcome to the allotment! To make sure everyone stays safe, has fun, and helps our garden grow, we ask all club members to follow our Green Thumb Rules:

🛡️ 1. Stay Safe

  • Listen up: Always listen carefully to the club leaders when they give instructions.

  • Stay together: Remain in the agreed club area and do not wander off.

  • Tool time: Only use gardening tools when a leader says it is okay, and always carry them safely pointing at the ground.

🤝 2. Be Kind and Respectful

  • Kind hands: Keep your hands to yourself. Share tools and take turns fairly.

  • Kind words: Use polite and friendly language with other club members and leaders.

  • Teamwork: Help out with watering, weeding, and harvesting when asked.

🌱 3. Respect Nature and the Allotment

  • Gentle touch: Treat plants, flowers, and vegetables gently so they can grow.

  • Wildlife: Look at minibeasts and bugs quietly without hurting them or their homes.

  • Tidy up: Put all tools away in their proper places and help pick up any litter.

🛑 What happens if rules are broken? (The Three-Strike Rule)

We want everyone to have a great time, so we use a simple three-strike system if someone forgets the rules during a session:

  • Strike 1: The Friendly Reminder (Verbal)
A leader will talk to the child privately, explain what rule was broken, and remind them of the correct behaviour.

  • Strike 2: The Garden Break (Time-Out)
The child will take a 5-minute break from the current activity to sit with a leader, calm down, and reset.

  • Strike 3: Parent Discussion & Reflection
The child will sit out for the rest of the session. A leader will discuss the behaviour with the parent/guardian at collection time or via a phone call.

  • The child may not be able to return to Allotment club and money for the remaining sessions will be refunded, if the behaviour of the child is deemed unsafe.

Note: For serious or dangerous safety breaches (like throwing tools), a leader may skip directly to Strike 3 to ensure everyone's safety.
